Rachael Heffer

DENTAL ASSISTANT

Rachael Heffer is a dedicated and passionate dental nurse who made a remarkable career change from teaching to dentistry. Her journey is a testament to her adaptability, love for learning, and commitment to helping others. Rachael’s transition has not only been personally fulfilling but has also had a positive impact on the dental practice where she works and the patients she serves.

Began her professional journey as a teacher. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and then completed a Graduate diploma in Education and worked as a school teacher for 10+ years; both here in Australia and over in the UK.

Despite a successful teaching career, friendship offered up the opportunity for a career change and Rachael jumped at the chance to learn a new set of skills and improve on her work/life balance.

Here at Central Dental Geelong her role involves assisting the dentist during procedures, ensuring patient comfort, maintaining a sterile environment, and educating patients about oral hygiene practices. She takes pride in her ability to alleviate patients’ fears and make their dental experiences as pleasant as possible.

What Rachael loves most about her role is the opportunity to interact with patients daily. She genuinely cares about their oral health and takes the time to educate them about preventative care. Her background in teaching has been invaluable in effectively communicating dental hygiene concepts.

Rachael’s career journey from teaching to dental nursing showcases her determination and passion for making a meaningful impact on people’s lives. Her ability to adapt, her dedication to learning, and her patient-centred approach have not only led to her own fulfilment but have also benefited the dental practice she serves and the patients who trust her with their oral health. Rachael’s story is an example of how a career change can lead to personal and professional growth when driven by a true passion for the field.
